So, we hit a million registered users. That’s a lot of people. We genuinely didn’t think we’d be writing this post this soon, but here we are, and it felt wrong not to mark the occasion somehow.
But we’re not just here to talk numbers. We’ve got something to show you.
Our new logo

We promised you a mascot. We promised you a real visual identity. We know, we know, it took a while. But our new logo is finally here, and we think the wait was well worth it.
The Stoat seen inside the circle is Toast, they’re our new mascot, and they are now the face of Stoat’s logo and icon. They’re the little one you’ll see in your taskbar, your app drawer, and maybe on a plushie at some point1, who knows.
The rest of the brand
Along with the new logo, we’ve also refreshed our color palette, typography and overall vibes and layouts. In many places we took slight inspiration from Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language, while also making sure to add enough Stoat-iness to not look generic at all.
Along with this change, we publish our official Brand Guidelines for anyone to see. If you’re building Stoat stuff (you have a community, you’re writing a bot, you’re writing a post, whatever), you can check out the guidelines for the official colors, typography, and logo usage rules. We want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to use our new brand in their own projects.
Do note there is a legal notice that applies to usage of our brand assets, so make sure to read that if you plan on using our assets in your projects. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us over email.
About That Million
We’ll keep this brief because nobody reads blog posts for stats.
A million accounts is cool. What’s cooler is what those accounts represent: thousands of communities running on a platform that doesn’t sell your data, mine your DMs, or answer to outside investors. That hasn’t changed and it’s not going to.
Will this affect the app?
No. The app’s design is still the same, and we’re not going to change it just because we hit a million users or rolled out a new brand. The new logo and brand will be rolled out across the app in the coming weeks, but the UI itself will remain the same. We just wanted to give ourselves a fresh new look to go along with all the new features we’ve been working on.
Thanks
We try not to get too sappy in these posts, but genuinely, thank you. To everyone who signed up early and stuck around through the weird times. To everyone who joined last week and has no idea what Stoat even was. Another thank you goes out to the people who file bug reports, run servers, and drag their friends onto the platform one by one.
